What is PicoSure®?
PicoSure® uses short-pulse lasers to dissolve unwanted pigments, such as ink from tattoos or excess melanin in dark spots or freckles. PicoSure® separates itself from the competition because it doesn’t rely on heat to remove unwanted colorations. Instead, it delivers energy in rapid bursts that dissolve and shatter pigment without affecting surrounding tissue.

What skin conditions can PicoSure® address?
PicoSure® effectively removes unwanted tattoos. It can also help even out irregular skin texture, particularly acne scars and wrinkles. Any pigment concerns, such as dark spots, freckles, and melasma may also respond well to PicoSure® treatment.
Do PicoSure® treatments hurt?
Most people tolerate PicoSure® treatments quite well. The treatment is said to feel like the snapping of a rubber band against the skin. Slightly more energy is used during a tattoo removal treatment, so you may need a topical anesthetic cream to reduce your discomfort.
What should I expect during recovery from PicoSure®?
Everyone’s recovery time is slightly different but usually lasts between two and six weeks for skin resurfacing and revitalization. Treatment for acne scars and wrinkles requires about three or four weeks of recovery. If you’re having a tattoo removed, it usually takes between six and eight weeks for the area to recover.
How many PicoSure® sessions will I need?
Exactly how many treatments you’ll need depends on your aesthetic goals and your skin’s response. For tattoo removal, the density of the ink, size of the tattoo, and location affect your results, but usually between four and 10 treatments will suffice. If you’re undergoing skin revitalization with PicoSure®, Dr. Tran will recommend between two and five sessions. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Tran to have him customize a treatment plan for you.
How long do the results last?
PicoSure® permanently removes tattoos and heals acne scars. Skin revitalization treatments do have lasting results, but some cases of irregular pigmentation can return. Some men and women opt for regular treatments, scheduled about six months apart, to maintain results, prevent the further accumulation of pigment, and slow the appearance of wrinkles.
